It could be true that Jagex got their hands on some scripts and patched them to the runetec(anti-bot system) and caught a lot of bots
or they just patched a way of botting and screwed a lot of accs
or the topic is fake which I dont think is

Probably fake. and if it's true they didn't ban many people. They went crazy with banning back in.. June of 2009 was the last Mass ban I can remember. That's when they updated their macro system. i lost my santa :3.. not like i worked hard for it got it in like 3 days of botting haha. back when they were 12mil.
